About 1 km from central Kaş, easily reached on foot or by minibus, Büyükçakıl Beach is the town's main beach and the meeting point for locals and visitors every year.
**The Beach**
As its name suggests, the shore is formed of pebbles meeting the clear, deep Mediterranean waters. Pebble beaches generally offer cleaner water than sand beaches and are more resistant to algal growth. Water shoes are recommended for entering the sea. Small businesses along the beach offer sun loungers, umbrellas, drinks and light meals.
**Activities**
Büyükçakıl is also notable for its proximity to one of Kaş's water-sports hubs. Nearby you'll find boat tours, parasailing, jet skiing and water skiing. It's also a popular point for diving, used as a base by several of Kaş's dive centres.
